Send Polly to Toronto!

The good news: I’ve been accepted into the Canadian Film Centre’s television screenwriting programme.

The bad news: Toronto is expensive!

The solution: Hold a Winnipeg social (fundraising event) with a 21st century twist: make tickets and virtual tickets available online!

YOU can support this Artist in making her dreams come true! (cue Laverne & Shirley theme song!)

Here's how:
1. You can buy tickets and attend an Evening of Winnipeg Short Films (limited seating! Act Now!).
2. You can buy Virtual tickets if you are unable to attend.
3. Some combination of the two!

An Evening of Winnipeg Short Films
Tuesday, September 12, 2006
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Park Theatre (698 Osborne Street)

To be shown:
The Coffee Maker (Polly Washburn, 2006)
(un)wounded (Polly Washburn, 2006)
They Came at Night (Polly Washburn, 2006)
On a Sunday (Bevan Klassen, 2004)

I Have Lived (Shelly Anthis, 2006)
Parasite (excerpt - David Zellis, 2006)

Plus . . . a sneak peek at the latest short from one of Canada's top directors...

I will talk about my own films and working on other people's films, and many of the other filmmakers will also be in attendance to discuss their films and the pleasures and challenges of filmmaking in Winnipeg. Speakers include Danishka Esterhazy, recipient of the NSI FilmExchange Drama Prize and recent participant in the Canadian Film Centre’s Directing programme, and Bevan Klassen, winner of the Manitoba Emerging Filmmaker Award for 2006.

Tickets: only $10 each. Besides the good cause of sending me out to get training to make quality television and film for you to watch, I will also donate a portion of funds raised to the Winnipeg Film Group, as they’ve been vital to my development so far.
